About Yvette

Yvette is a "paint addict". Just ask her family.

Some days I think they believe me to be some crazy recluse, hold up in the painting studio, only to come out paint spattered long enough to get a coffee and run back in. LOL Well I am not crazy, just crazy about painting!! :0)

I am a Mom of 2 teenagers and 1 toddler. I work outside the home and maintain a home business. I am a busy girl but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have always loved drawing and as a child I would sketch the family pets or anything that would hold still long enough for me to do so.

I strayed from my sketching every now and then to try my hand at other crafts like knitting, crochet, rug hooking, sewing or anything else that was new at the time.

I had never taken art classes in high school so anything I tried was basically self taught. My family was quite supportive and always gave me positive feedback on my creations even if they weren't quite perfect. I can remember deciding one day in  my mid teens that my bedroom needed a mural. So I proceeded to draw and paint a saber toothed tiger perched on a rock in the middle of the wall. Not sure why I thought this particular subject was needed but I painted it nonetheless. My Mom wondered about me I think but my Dad thought it was pretty good.

As years passed, college, marriage and then babies came along but I always continued to be creative in some way. Sewing clothes for my kids, sewing comforters and valances for their bedrooms etc. I never lost the desire to create something, anything.

About ten years ago, I decided to try my hand at a tole class. I painted a strokework clock that still hangs in my kitchen. It is a reminder of the monster that was created. LOL From that point on I was hooked. I painted anything I could get my hands on. Painting other artist's designs from magazines and painting books. Then eventually drawing, designing my own creations and making pattern packets for others to enjoy. I can't express enough how enjoyable and relaxing painting is for me. An escape that is a welcome change to a hectic day. A sense of accomplishment when a project is completed.

I have many goals lined up for myself in this painting journey. Hopefully I can coninue to meet and surpass some of them! In the meantime I am enjoying every minute of it.
